Swansea Creative Focus Advent Calendar
Day Twenty: 20/12/2019
Welcome to Black Friday, the final Friday before Christmas and traditionally a night when we over-indulge and paint the town red. Swansea city centre will be buzzing tonight. How many heads will be buzzing tomorrow morning?
If you do wake up with a hangover, it may comfort you to know that there’s a place in Swansea dedicated to peace of mind.
The Swansea Wellbeing Centre on Walter Road welcomes anyone and everyone, offering expert treatments including Soft Tissue Therapy, Swedish Massage, Homeopathy, Counselling and Psychotherapy, Reflexology, Acupuncture and Crystal Healing.
Centre Director Lucy Heavens has created a place of security and healing, nourishing both spirit and body; there’s an excellent kitchen onsite with a range of cookery classes on offer.
For those looking for an immediate boost, this Sunday therapist Wendy Vickery hosts her annual Winter Solstice Pre-Christmas Cleanse. This exercise in stress-relief incorporates a cacao ceremony, kundalini yoga, mantra, chakra dance, energy healing and deep relaxation. The afternoon concludes with a vegan dinner. If you’re looking for a break from seasonal stress, treat yourself to four hours of “me time” from 12.30pm to 4.30pm this Sunday. It might be just what you need. In Wendy’s own words:
“The more time you give to you, the better you will be for everyone around you”.
More and more employers are recognising the importance of maintaining emotional well-being. The Office for National Statistics regularly reports on this matter, and the figures don’t always make pleasant reading. The November 2019 report revealed that 21.2% of the UK population admits to having feelings of high anxiety. More than one person in every five. Luckily for the people of Swansea, there’s a solution on our doorsteps.
