PROJECTS > GETTING AROUND SWANSEA
GETTING AROUND SWANSEA
In partnership with Swansea Environmental Forum and SCVS, we are conducting a series of events supported by Swansea Council with funding from UK Government Community Renewal Funding, which brings communities across Swansea together to identify transport needs and solutions.
People across the city and county of Swansea struggle to get around, facing challenges in accessing the services, activities, and relationships that are essential for their health and wellbeing. Whether getting to the shops, appointments, leisure activities, employment, or visiting friends and family, if you don’t have access to a car, your options for getting around Swansea might be pretty limited.
Wales’ decarbonisation agenda also means we need to find greener, cleaner ways of getting around, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, and promoting sustainable transport options. How can we support people to get around in a way that is better for the planet, better for air quality, and better for our own health and well-being?

GETTING AROUND SWANSEA – TRANSPORT SOLUTIONS FOR COMMUNITIES
We held a well-attended event in the Grand Theatre to bring together community members from all over Swansea to share perspectives and develop the ideas and solutions co-created in the hyperlocal events held previously. We presented existing solutions for local transport solutions and encouraged collaboration with others who want to create solutions, and access support and advice for community-led initiatives.

GETTING AROUND SWANSEA HYPERLOCAL EVENTS
We ran a series of informal hyperlocal engagement events to discover the transport needs of communities around Swansea, which included visiting Bonymaen, Clydach, Pontarddulais, Pennard, Bishopston, and South Gower. These meetings saw community members discussing the challenges, ideas, and potential solutions to take forward. This project also aims to strengthen sustainable transport and active travel in Swansea, with a focus on what communities can do for themselves.
