Regional Procurement Partnership
OBJECTIVES
To keep more regional spending in the region, we need to strengthen the relationship between public sector buyers, and the regional supply chain. We're asking major organisations to notify us about tenders and RFQs (requests for quotes), so that we can help notify regional businesses as new opportunities arise.
UPDATE
Swansea Bay City Deal has published a set of Procurement Principles aimed at maximising the regional economic and social value of city deal projects. Pobl Housing Group's Penderry development is a great example of a project that has taken an innovative approach to engaging with the local supply chain. A number of regional partners, including Swansea Council, have 'Foundational Economy' funded projects looking at the issue of procurement.
NEXT STEPS
There is a great deal happening and we are working to link it all up. We need to engage with a 'critical mass' of key regional organisations, and agree with them how best to broaden access to their tender opportunities. We also need to engage with City Deal to discuss what they are doing to engage with local authority colleagues and regional businesses around their Procurement Principles.
