Llanelli Station Community Garden
OBJECTIVES
Working with Incredible Edible Carmathenshire, we are talking to Network Rail about the disused land around Llanelli Train Station, to create a community garden and growing space that can serve as a hub for lots of lovely activity.
UPDATE
The site is progressing through Network Rail's business approvals process, after which we will be able to arrange a license (and later hopefully a lease) to turn the land into an attractive community green space. Meanwhile, Transport for Wales is identifying potential funding for phase 1 of the project.
NEXT STEPS
Phase 1 of the intended project will be to install a long line of planters parallel with the platform for wildflowers, and turn the top corner of the land into a sensory garden with a raised pond. Please contact Incredible Edible Carmarthenshire to get involved in this community-led project!
