Event Summary & Next Steps

‘Our coast and seas’ brought together partners who had an interest in Welsh coasts and seas, to develop practical actions to overcome challenges, and identify what we can do together to make our seas more diverse, resilient and sustainable. It provided a platform for collaboration, networking and information-sharing at a local and regional scale, with the aim of exploring and developing ideas for practical projects, which may be taken forward to address the priorities and opportunities for Welsh coasts and seas.

We had 300 delegate registrations for the event with a UK coverage:

The “Our coast and seas” website will remain live for the rest of the year as a minimum. We continue to monitor the forums and are thinking about how we can use this as a shared resource in the future. All presentations are hosted on the website, including live recordings of the Regional Discussions. A summary of each of the Regional Discussions is set out at the end of this summary.

Next Steps

NRW is committed to continuing to support engagement and collaboration to help deliver the sustainable management of out coasts and seas. Following on from the event in January we will seek to (and in some cases have started to):

  • Identify how to take forward conversations, including linking into existing groups and Blue recovery discussions where appropriate
  • Explore how we could develop the event website to act as a long-term platform for discussions around specific topics and regions
  • Investigate the appetite for a repeat of the 2-day online event for next year
  • Continue to produce a quarterly newsletter providing information on what has been happening as a result of this event – if you haven’t already then please sign up here (N.B. after entering your details you will then need to ‘add subscription’ to choose from a range of WG/NRW newsletters
