Swansea Creative Focus Advent Calendar
Day Fifteen: 15/12/2019

At a time of year when we’re all decorating our homes and choosing last minute gifts, why not think outside the box when it comes to our choices?

Yes, we can click a button and order the same generic decorations, arts and crafts as a thousand other online shoppers, or maybe this year we could try something a little more interesting. Today at Swansea Community Workshops (SCW) at 208 High Street, visitors will get the chance to sample the best of artisan craft work on the final day of the Christmas Craft Fayre.

SCW comprises a group of workshops, structured by activity types. A communal meeting room is available for specific group interests with individual rooms available for private projects. And the premises also offer a prominent window display area where members can showcase their work. SCW has a track record of developing craft skills through workshops in woodworking, stain glass manufacturing, silk painting, mosaics and pottery. The Christmas Craft Fayre will showcase the talent of the workshop’s regular members, give visitors the opportunity to develop skills of their own and also offer an interesting and unique alternative when it comes to Christmas gifts and decorations. Why not choose hand-made items from a local provider, or even learn how to make them yourself?

Swansea has a long-standing reputation as a centre of manufacturing innovation. Two centuries ago we told a story of mass production of copper and coal. Today we’re telling a more private, intimate story of lovingly crafted work that’s perfect for sharing this Christmas. Call in at 208 High Street today to find out more.
