Following the recent announcement that Total and Simply Blue Energy (SBE) have established a partnership to develop floating offshore wind (FLOW) projects in the Celtic Sea region, MarineSpace Limited are pleased to announce that they have been appointed as lead offshore EIA and consenting consultants for the initial 96 MW Erebus project.

MarineSpace will form part of a wider consultancy team, led by Offshore Wind Consultants (OWC) Limited that will deliver an overall package of engineering, electrical, consenting, commercial and HSEQ for the project. The EIA and consenting aspects of the onshore elements of the proposed project will be led by ITPE Limited, who will work closely with MarineSpace to deliver a coordinated EIA and consent application.

The appointment of MarineSpace follows on from the successful delivery of a first phase of work on Project Erebus for SBE between June 2019 to January 2020. This included the development of stakeholder and consenting strategy documents, a series of pre-application consultation meetings with key stakeholders, EIA Scoping and the commencement of long lead-in environmental surveys.

The next phase of work will be coordinated by the team based in MarineSpace’s Pembroke Dock office, supported by staff across other MarineSpace UK offices. MarineSpace’s detailed knowledge of marine development issues in Welsh waters and unrivalled network of local and regional stakeholders will be utilised to ensure the successful delivery of this project.

Jonny Lewis, Director at MarineSpace, stated:

“MarineSpace are thrilled to be part of the wider consultancy team appointed to help deliver this exciting project. The opportunities for development of FLOW projects in the Celtic Sea region are significant and we hope to be a key part of the local supply chain needed to deliver this, and future projects. Our background in offshore wind development obtained via involvement in UK projects since 2000 to date, coupled with our knowledge of specific issues and stakeholders in this region, will ensure we provide an excellent level of service”.

Phil Durrant, Managing Director at MarineSpace, stated:

“We are delighted that we have been awarded this work on the back of some long term, strategic business development and very much look forward to working with SBE and colleagues in the wider consultancy team over the coming months. The award of this project marks another significant step in the development of the company and aligns with our strategy of providing an expanding package of services to clients across a range of sectors”.
