A year after launching its new Access Control Division, award-winning aluminium manufacturing and installation company AB Glass is celebrating the success of the venture.

The company invested a six-figure amount into the division, including the purchase of two new vehicles. The division now has four members of staff, including director Justin John, access control engineer Ian Dowell and access control trainee Daniel Jones.

The new division has significantly enhanced AB Glass’ service offering, helping it become a one-stop shop for manufactured aluminium and access control products for both the domestic and commercial markets.

Its new access control product range includes automatic door services and installations, video entry systems, smoke vents and fingerprint reader systems. It also fits cloud-based access control systems for student accommodation and hotels.

AB Glass specialise in Disabled Funded Grant (DFG) adaption doors, including a fully certified automatic domestic door with fob access. The systems are designed around the occupational therapist’s reports detailing each homeowner or tenant’s individual needs.

The division’s recent clients include JCP Solicitors, who needed biometric access control technology across six of the company’s sites to improve its security and entry provision. An updated security system was needed to meet the needs of JCP Solicitors’ modern workforce, who frequently work across the firm’s various office locations.

The project saw AB Access Control undertake the installation of a Connective Touch Flexi Gold unit, including biometric door readers, high security video entry and keypad access control. The new system offers efficient entry using fingerprint recognition, alleviating the need for access via swipe cards and pin codes.

The division has been contracted by Neath and Port Talbot Council to service and maintain all automatic doors in the borough. It also works closely with numerous housing associations in Wales and the South West, providing access control and automatic systems and implementing each bespoke project from design to installation.

Justin John, access control director at AB Glass, said:

“AB Glass is a highly professional and respected company, so I was very excited to be offered the chance to join such a successful business. The new access control division compliments an already market leading service and has helped the company address a broader range of client needs.

“Our Access Control Division offers AB Glass’ clients a complete solution for doors and access control while providing an efficient single point of contact for the service. We are able to collaborate with the end user to design the bespoke access systems they want before projects are tendered to main contractors, meaning the client always has the specified systems they require. Our approach limits delays and time on-site for contractors and is therefore highly cost effective for the client.”

Alan Brayley, managing director of AB Glass, said:

“I’m delighted to be celebrating the first-year anniversary of our new Access Control Division. We knew it would enhance the service we are able to give clients, and we’ve been delighted with how successful it has become. It fits with our goal of making life easier for our clients while offering them cost-effective solutions, and I look forward to growing this part of our business further over the coming years.”
